Embark on a rhythmic journey with my captivating Cali Colombia Salsa Tour. Begin your adventure at the iconic Plazoleta Jairo Varela, home to the famous niche trumpets or salsa trumpets. Here we will explore the monument, uncovering its hidden secrets and the second instrument painted over the street. Immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of salsa with an introductory history lesson and an express salsa class, catering to all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers.
Next, visit the Museo Jairo Varela, where we'll delve into the legacy of Grupo Niche and their monumental impact on Colombian music and salsa in Cali. The museum boasts an impressive collection of memorabilia, including original recording equipment and multiple awards, offering a unique insight into the group's storied career.
After feeding your soul with music, it's time to satisfy your taste buds. Take a delicious food break, savoring local delicacies like fritanga (empanadas, marranitas, aborrajado), lulada, champús, and cholado. If you're hungry and you know it, you're covered. If you just want to refresh the afternoon heat, you're covered too.
With a full belly and a happy heart, let's continue our journey to the salsa neighborhood of Cali.
Depending on time, we may make a stop at a cool vynil discs shop where you can listen to and even buy some LP's, from salsa to international artists.
Located in the neighborhood where Cuban music first touched Cali and gave birth to the Cali salsa dancing style, the museum is a treasure trove of history. Founded by a local photographer and now led by the neighborhood's young generation, it offers a deep dive into the evolution of Salsa in Cali. Enjoy a family-friendly experience filled with music, dancing, history, and souvenirs. 1 beer/bottle of water is included.
After an exciting experience at the Salsa Museum where they will explain how Salsa got to Cali and why we're the Salsa capital of the world, and with all that information as an introduction to our culture, we will head down to a local Salsa School for you to have an introductory class! This is a group class with more people (depending on assistance) but if you want it private or better tailored to your level, it can also be, just let me know in advance.
And with that, our tour ends. History, information, food, music and dancing... a multisensorial experience of Salsa in Cali.
